DAY 01: NAIROBI
Pick up at the airport in Nairobi after going through immigration and customs. Transfer to The Giraffe Manor, built in 1932 by Sir David Duncan.
It is surrounded by 140 acres of its own park and forest with superb views of the Ngong Hills. The Manor also offers a uniquely untouched wilderness on the doorstep of one of Africa’s most cosmopolitan cities, the adjoining Jock Leslie-Melville Nature Education Centre, better known as the Giraffe Centre. Guided walks through its primeval forest enable you to learn about traditional uses of the varied flora, view some of the 180 bird species and perhaps meet a warthog or Bushbuck. Lunch and dinner. Overnight.
DAY 02 + DAY 03: LAIKIPIA
Breakfast and drive to Mutamaiyu House, perched on a panoramic hilltop, with hundreds of miles of sun streaked savannah spread out below. This is a spectacularly refined retreat in one of Africa’s greatest wilderness areas –the 49,000 acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia. These rugged plains and lush woodlands are home to some of the richest diversities of wildlife on the continent including four of the big five except for the rhino. Spend 02 nights here with day and night game drives, guided walks or visit local market and school. All meals and overnight Mutamaiyu House (B.L.D)
DAY 04 + DAY 05: SAMBURU
Drive further North to Samburu National Reserve which is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life especially with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five). The reserve is also popular with elephants, large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah are an important attraction (Kamunyak the miracle lioness that adopted the baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve) and wild dogs. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded including the Lesser Kestrel and the Taita Falcon which are of global conservation concern, vulnerable species- African darter, great egret, white-headed vulture, martial eagle, yellow-billed ox-pecker and the critically endangered pancake tortoise (malacochersus tornieri). Spend 02 nights at this small and exclusive safari camp located right on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River with a lovely setting amongst the many varieties of indigenous trees and shrubs. DAY 06 – DAY 08: MARA
Breakfast and transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve , one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland and a jewel to wildlife enthusiasts. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. The Reserve was made famous by the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress. On arrival at the airstrip you will be transferred to Mara Bushtops Camp- an exclusive and luxurious camp located in a private conservancy. Enjoy game drives and guided walks. Spend 03 nights here. All meals and overnight Mara Bushtops Camp (B.L.D)
DAY 09: NAIROBI-AIRPORT
Breakfast and game en route to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson in Nairobi where you will be picked and transferred to the airport with a light lunch en route. END.
