01: NAIROBI
Pick up at the airport in Nairobi after going through immigration and customs. Transfer to The Giraffe Manor, built in 1932 by Sir David Duncan. It is surrounded by 140 acres of its own park and forest with superb views of the Ngong Hills. The Manor also offers a uniquely untouched wilderness on the doorstep of one of Africa’s most cosmopolitan cities, the adjoining Jock Leslie-Melville Nature Education Centre, better known as the Giraffe Centre. Guided walks through its primeval forest enable you to learn about traditional uses of the varied flora, view some of the 180 bird species and perhaps meet a warthog or Bushbuck. Lunch and dinner. Overnight at The Giraffe Manor (B.L.D)
DAY 02+ DAY 03: MARA
After breakfast to be transferred to Wilson for your flight to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve where you will be taken to Governors’ Camp, situated on the banks of the Mara River in the west of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland and a jewel to wildlife enthusiasts. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular ecosystems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. Spend 02 nights here having game drives and local projects. All meals and overnight at Governors’ Camp (B.L.D)
DAY 04 + DAY 05: LAKE VICTORIA
Early transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Mfangano Island Camp,lapped by the waters of Lake Victoria , shaded by giant fig trees and lost to the world. This is an oasis of tranquility, an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life.Landing on a dirt runway and stepping out of the plane you are greeted by local children before walking down to the rickety jetty to get into your boat to the camp. Boating along the shoreline you see tiny fishing villages with thatched roofs tucked under mango and papaya trees. Dhows dot the water as fisherman sail out to catch Tilapia, Nile Perch and more, to eat or sell at the market. Your 02 nights will be spent visiting local schools and villages as well principle point of interest around the island . All meals and overnight at Mfangano Island Camp (B.L.D)
DAY 06: MARA
Take a flight back to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Have a game en route to your camp. Lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. The reserve is a host to numerous species of flora and fauna. You are almost guaranteed to see the ‘Big Five’. Lions abound throughout the park as do leopards, cheetah , hyenas, giraffe, impala, wildebeest, topi, baboons, warthogs, buffalo, zebra, elephants, and of course hippos and crocodiles in the Mara River. Dinner and overnight at Governors’ Camp (B.L.D)
DAY 07: NAIROBI-AIRPORT
Breakfast and game en-route to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson in Nairobi where you will be picked and transferred to the airport with a light lunch en-route. ENDhome. END.
